Notes | Not successful because of very unequal light intensities in the two tubes (the image appearing two and a half times brighter in one eyepeice than in the other) and because of abberation caused by the unequal distance traveled by light in the two tubes. See 1854, 1860, 1865. Successful binocular microscopes were not developed until well into the 20th Century. |
