Notes | Date is approximate. At about this time, Wollaston made achromatic triplets, in which the lower lens of his "doublet" was replaced by two lenses. Date unknown, but was in the 1830s. Such triplets set new standard for simple microscope, and were increasingly employed in compound scopes; see 1827. |
