Notes | H. Schacht. Nematode was named Heterodera schachtii by Schmidt in 1871. Thorne, 1961, says this was the first realization of the tremendous potential of plant parasitic nematodes. [From this point on, little if any attention will be paid to plant nematodes in this Timeline. Many new species were soon described, but the concept of causation of disease was already established.] |
