Notes | Patrick Manson is generally credited with providing the impetus for the work of Ross. See Ross 1897. Manson's theory, supported by observations on the malaria parasite in human blood, was published at a time when there was still considerable skepticism in medical circles about the protozoal causation of malaria. Ross, himself, had to be persuaded by Manson's laboratory demonstration of the parasite. |
