| Notes | The clarification appeared in the findings of a committee of the Pathological Society of London, which concluded that "septicaemia" covered both chemical and infective concepts. and that "pyaemia" was also used confusingly. Proposed distinguishing between (1) septic intoxication --- chemical; (2) septic infection --- due to some agent but not making clear whether they meant an organism or a non-organized ferment; (3) pyaemia --- septic infection with metastases; (4) thrombo-embolism. |
