Notes | Peter Henrik Malmsten. Although not mentioned by Garrison, Malmsten concluded that the protozoon causes illness when present in large numbers. Detailed case reports. Foster (1965), perhaps referring to a preliminary observation, gives date as 1856, mentions a single case of severe diarrhea, and says the organism was Paramoecium-like but probably Balantidium coli. |
