|Contribution||With Isayev, reported that cholera germs die in peritoneal cavity of immune, but not in normal, guinea-pig.|
|Notes||R. F. I. Pfeiffer and V. I. Isayev (sometimes given as Issaell). The effect is known as "Pfeifer's phenomenon." Cholera organisms in peritoneal cavity of normal guinea pigs multiply and kill the host; but in cavity of immune guinea pig, they round up and clump (and die). Silverstein gives an 1895 publication.|
